N-AMPS
Narrowband AMPS.
NB
Normal Burst; used to carry traffic and control channels except RACH.
NMC
Network Management Center. An operations center used to manage network resources such as the MSC, location registers and base stations.
Node B
The element in a UMTS network which interfaces with the mobile station, analogous to a BTS in a GSM network.
NS
Network Service (sub-network independent portions) protocol between the SGSN and the BSS. This protocol manages NSVCs with NESIs and performs load sharing among them.
NSEI
Network Service Entity Identified at the BSS and SGSN provides the NM functionality required for operation of the Gb interface. The NSEI together with the BVCI uniquely identifies a BSSGP virtual connection.
NSS
Network Switching Subsystem. That portion of a GSM network that manages the connections and communications within the network. The BSS and OSS complete the major components of the network.
NSVC
Network Service Virtual Circuit.
